BRIDGES/UNESCO – An International Sustainability Science Coalition

10-10-2019 11:08

The third workshop of BRIDGES took place at the Sigtuna Foundation/Sweden, between the 5th and the 7th of October.

This event established the programmatic and procedural foundation for BRIDGES as an international coalition for action in Sustainability Science, as part of the UNESCO framework.

The ambition of this coalition is to introduce exemplary transversal and transectoral projects connecting Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines with Natural Sciences, applied scientific fields and the Arts, while also enabling meaningful co-production between this broader and more inclusive configuration of academic knowledge communities and non-academic actors / stakeholders from society through co-designed case studies focused on achieving sustainable environments and societies.

The event was attended by representatives of the Kogi community, who fight for the sustainable preservation of their traditional territory in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. I participated in this workshop (an also in the two precedent events, in Portugal and France) as vice-president and representative of UISPP (Union Internationale des Sciences Préhistoriques et Protohistoriques). The workshop produced an action plan for 2020 and beyond, including pilot activities.
