Building Societies of Knowledge : Sustainability in a Cultural Environment

This April, I attended once again the annual congress of the Society for American Archaeologists which took place in Washington DC/USA. The opening session brought the major theme addressed by the event, with the different keynote speakers seeking to answer the same questions: What have we learned through the lens of the archeological record that is really useful for society today? Why do we continue to do archeology and why is it important?
